The Rolling Stones are right up there with the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and the Who when it comes to influential rock ’n’ roll legends. This incredibly detailed coffee-table book documents all of the musical gear the band has used, from instruments to recording paraphernalia, from 1954 to 2008. Hundreds of photographs—some rare and previously unpublished—accompany a dense narrative, showcasing the history of the band and its music. Review
''Yes there are reams and reams of beautifully shot pictures but whereas many a gear book begins and ends there Rolling Stones Gear is also a history lesson as told through the instruments used during their recording sessions and tour dates.'' --Total Music Book Reviews

Great photos is my main thing
By Frank
This a massive work and I am still reading through it. Massive in terms of detail but also in size and weight. Great photos is my main thing. Every detail of the guitars and amps is provided. I also particularly like the details of the recording sessions. Long live the original five Rolling Stones. I will always believe that Brian Jones was an essential and central part of the group. Wonderful insights into the man and what he meant and brought to the group. Same with Bill Wyman who retired after thirty years in the 1990s. And yes, I recognize that Mick and Keith are genius together but I lost a lot of interest without Brian there.Love Charlie also. Buy the book and read it slowly.

Spectacular!
By mmrd
Got it today, and after spending a couple of hours with it, I agree with the previous reviewer. This is much more than just a compilation of instruments, it is a complete history of the Stones, with lots of very nice pictures. It starts with Keith's first acoustic he got at age 15, and goes all the way to the "50 And Counting" tour of 2013. Lots of details, e.g. removal of a Les Paul's pickup switch plate reveals that the original tint of the guitar was much redder, or Micawber's upper frets are scalloped on the side of the low strings from Keith's strumming over the neck.
The format is larger than magazine size, and it weighs in at a hefty 7.2 lbs (yes, I really put it on a scale). At $36, this is an incredible bargain. This book is a gem for any Stones fan, but if you also play an instrument and have bothered to learn a few Stones songs, then it is a must have that will keep you occupied for a long time.

Great Book to have for any Band lover
By John W
This is one of the best books of it's kind that anyone interested in a band's history could have. Having been in a few bands over the years, it reminded me of instrument, and other equipment issues we have had, and how they were resolved, sometime in the most unconventional ways. The Rolling Stones Gear book places the super-band in a more familiar light, and brings their superstar status down to earth for us regulars. Perhaps there are opportunities we have missed out on because our own gear did not come together for us? There are many examples in the book of good lesson learned in the life of a super-band.
